An Outdoor Adventure Zone
The owners of a Northumberland estate set out to create a truly unique woodland adventure playground for their family and friends. Their vision was to design a space where children and adults could play, explore, and connect with nature, transforming the woodland into an immersive outdoor experience.
One of the key elements to this design is that NO PLANNING IS REQUIRED!
A key feature of the playground is the woodland assault course. This challenging trail winds through the trees, weaving together rope climbs, timber beams, and natural woodland obstacles. It invites both children and adults to test their balance, coordination, and agility while enjoying the energy of outdoor play. The course brings a sense of exploration and physical challenge, encouraging friendly competition and teamwork.
Adding to the sense of adventure is a network of rope ridges and elevated lookout decks within the woodland. These walkways create a journey from one platform to the next, o.ering new perspectives of the woodland at every turn. From one of the tallest decks, a long, winding slide provides a thrilling way back to the forest floor, giving the playground an exciting element of speed and fun that delights both children and adults.

Outdoor family retreat
Suspended even higher in the treetops, the Treetop Net Hangout & Cinema o.ers a playful and imaginative experience. The expansive multi-level net structure creates a space to climb, bounce, and lounge among the branches. By day, it serves as a lively canopy playground; by night, it transforms into a magical treetop cinema where the family can gather under the stars to watch movies surrounded by nature.
The completed playground has become a private adventure world hidden within the woodland. By combining the physical challenges of the assault course, the elevated journeys across rope bridges and lookout decks, the excitement of the long slide, and the social and imaginative atmosphere of the treetop nets and cinema, the project delivers a space that is both dynamic and enchanting. It encourages active play, sparks creativity, and provides opportunities for families and friends to come together in a setting that feels both adventurous and deeply connected to the natural landscape.
