Welcome to the Hillside Hollow Treehouse

Set within the  garden of a beautiful Lancashire family home, Hillside Hollow Treehouse is an imaginative family retreat designed to encourage adventure, creativity and outdoor play. Blue Forest was commissioned to create a bespoke treehouse and play landscape that sits naturally within the existing slope and mature trees.

The treehouse nestles into the bank, accessed from the existing garden path via a gently winding wooden spiral staircase. The entrance deck is formed around two living host trees that rise through the structure, reinforcing a strong connection between architecture and nature. Double-glazed doors open from the treehouse onto the deck, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor space.

Designed for the whole family, the interior includes a cosy reading nook alongside playful elements such as a tubular slide, accessed through a Narnia-style wardrobe. Beyond the entrance deck, the main play deck offers outdoor seating, a basket and pulley, climbing nets and a rope bridge, with a second staircase returning to the garden path. A zip wire and slide landing complete the elevated adventure.

Imaginative style for inviting hideaways

At the base of the slope, a charming hobbit house is illustrated as a complementary structure, tucked into the garden bank. This additional hideaway provides a flexible playroom, ideal for children’s parties, with its own outdoor seating area and firepit. A sunken trampoline is subtly integrated into the landscape nearby.

Crafted from sustainably sourced timber, each structure is individually designed while sharing a cohesive palette of materials and finishes, creating a unified play environment that reflects the character of the property and its woodland setting.
